Culture of all the senses

The region offers a diverse range of art and culture. The arts and crafts are presented at the event highlight, the German Gemstone Cutters' and Goldsmiths' Market with street theatre. The gemstone cutters, silver and gold discerners, jewellery designers and artists demonstrate their craftsmanship along the pedestrian zone and on the market square below the Felsenkirche in Oberstein on the first weekend in August. The Idar gemstone market on Schleiferplatz in the Idar district makes the hearts of jewellery and gemstone lovers beat faster. In Mörschied, the Karl May Festival takes place on the open-air stage. The premium and autumn market in Veitsrodt, the Schinderhannes robbers' festival in Herrstein, Jazz Days or Kultursommer in Idar-Oberstein are just some of the permanent fixtures in the regional events calendar.
